Today’s news media, both in the United States and around the world, like nothing better than a good argument. The interest and emotions arguments provoke drive people to watch their programs, and help them sell advertising; nothing more. But do they change anything?
Their constant harangues and poll results, reported like box scores in a baseball game, are touted as though they were the most important thing ever, and oh how we must watch this debate or that pundit, or we will miss something. Not!
